Rings shown were cut from 3" aluminum billet. The rings were nested and cut with 1/16" separation. Normally this would take 2 pieces of material with conventional cutting methods.

This is an example of "concept to reality." On the left is the original bulkhead and on the right is the new bulkhead. We worked with an existing product, reverse-engineered the product, and then re-engineered the modifications to produce the new version. The center part was cut out of wood and used by the customer to perform an inexpensive "live-fit" check of the new design.

Waterjet cutting is a highly accurate, low cost alternative to die cutting, CNC machining, plasma arc cutting, and laser cutting. Our Omax™ 55100 machines utilize a computer control system to guide a high-pressure stream of water and abrasive media through a small nozzle to cut complex and intricate shapes in a variety of materials. Waterjet cutting tackles jobs often considered too costly or impossible with conventional methods.

Economical:

  • We can convert your existing CAD files, sketches, hand drawings, or even photographs into cut products using our system’s advanced software.
  • Eliminates the need for dies, holding fixtures, CNC programs
  • Part nesting for higher material yield
  • Ability to cut multiple layers
  • Low cost for single parts or large run production
  • Secondary operations are virtually eliminated leaving a finished edge
  • Fast turnaround
  • Narrow Kerf – less waste

Accuracy/Quality:

  • Holds tolerances down to +/- .005” in most cases
  • Edges free from burrs and resemble a sandblasted surface
  • Edge quality can be adjusted through cutting speed
  • Flexible materials cut with less taper than with die cutting
  • Cut quality typically needs no further processing and allows you to use ”as is”

Benefits:

  • Cool method of cutting
  • No thermal stresses – a concern for metals, plastics, glass & rubber
  • No mechanical stresses
  • Cuts conductive/non-conductive materials not possible with conventional methods
  • Easily cuts brittle and soft materials
  • Cuts a wide range of material thicknesses
  • Environmentally friendly – clean process without use of gases or oils
